Koran, Bible, Tenach - three books, one story? If there is a connection between Jews, Christians and Muslims, it will probably be shown in their holy books. What do we know about these three books? The oldest book is the Tenach. It is the book of the Jews including the Torah, the the Prophets and the Writings. Together they cover a period of more than two thousands of years. The Christians call the Tenach 'Old Testament'. This Old Testament together with the 'New Testament' is for the Christians the Bible. The New Testament include four Gospel descriptions, the Acts, the Letters of the apostles and the Revelation to John. The Koran has its origins between the years 610 and 632 after Christ and included 114 soeras (chapters) with messages of God to the prophet Mohammed, descendant of Abraham's son Ismaël. The soeras contain summaries of events from the period of the Old and New Testament, commandments and regimen for the people of Ismael, and guidelines for the prophet Mohammed, how to handle as a messenger. There is a Dutch translation of F. Leemhuis and an elder one of J.H.Kramers, with a extensive alphabetic catchword index. For comparing these holy books lectures are given. At the end of 2002 a book with 25 questions and answers of Christians and Muslims about each other's faith was published, with references to verses in the Tenach, Koran and Bible.
